What Is an Event QR Code?

Event QRs embed a VCALENDAR/VEVENT payload — the same RFC 5545 format that powers .ics email attachments. Scanning prompts the user's calendar (Google, Apple, Outlook) to add the event, typically without the camera flow having to leave full-screen.

This tool reads the local-time inputs you enter and converts them to UTC for the iCal payload, escapes commas and semicolons in the title / location / description per RFC 5545, and runs the QR encoder locally. Nothing leaves your browser. Large descriptions push the QR version up, so keep description text concise (a sentence or two) for a code that's still easy to scan from a poster.

Double-check the start and end times after you generate — a wrong timezone is the most common error in event QR codes. Test with at least one calendar app before mass-printing.
