What Is a GST Calculator?

GST (Goods and Services Tax) is India's unified indirect tax, replacing a patchwork of central and state levies in 2017. Standard slabs are 0%, 5%, 12%, 18% and 28%. Each transaction splits into CGST (central) and SGST (state) for intra-state supply, or a single IGST (integrated) for inter-state supply. The split is always 50/50 for intra-state — an 18% sale is 9% CGST + 9% SGST.

Small-business owners use the tool to set listing prices that arrive at a clean inclusive figure (₹1,180 inclusive of 18% is a base of ₹1,000). Accountants use the Remove GST direction to pull the tax component out of receipt totals during reconciliation. The tool accepts the price, slab and intra-state vs inter-state toggle and shows the base, GST amount, gross total and the CGST/SGST or IGST breakdown.

This is a general-purpose calculator. Composition-scheme rates, reverse charge and special-category states have additional rules — verify with a qualified tax professional for filings.
