What Is a World Clock?

World clocks are essential for distributed teams, frequent travellers and anyone with family across countries. Knowing it's 4pm in London means there's an hour before colleagues in Sydney finish the day, or that calling Mumbai right now lands at 9pm there.

This world clock starts with seven common zones — UTC, New York, London, Paris, Mumbai (Asia/Kolkata), Tokyo and Sydney — and lets you add any IANA zone the browser supports via Intl.supportedValuesOf('timeZone'). That gives over 400 options including all major cities and historical zone names. Times are formatted with Intl.DateTimeFormat, which carries the full IANA timezone database, so daylight-saving transitions are applied without manual intervention.

The display updates every second. Remove a zone with the Remove button next to it. No state is persisted — refreshing the tab returns to the default seven zones.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many zones can I show?
Add as many as you like. The dropdown is populated from Intl.supportedValuesOf('timeZone'), giving you every IANA zone your browser supports — over 400 options.
Is daylight saving time handled?
Yes. Times are rendered with Intl.DateTimeFormat, which uses the browser's own timezone database including current DST rules.
How often does the clock update?
Once per second, in sync with the system clock.
