Free Online Average Calculator
An average calculator parses a list of numbers and reports the four classic summary statistics: mean, median, mode, and range.
Your data is processed entirely in your browser and never sent to any server.
How to Use This Calculator
- Paste your numbers into the input box — any separator works.
- Read the mean, median, mode, and range in the stats panel.
- Check the sorted list under the stats to verify the median and mode visually.
What Is an Average Calculator?
Mean = sum ÷ count. Median = middle value of the sorted list (or the average of the two middle values for an even count). Mode = most frequent value (or values, if more than one ties). Range = max − min. Each captures a different aspect of the distribution.
The arithmetic mean is the default but it's pulled around by outliers. The median is the better summary for skewed data — incomes, house prices, response times. The mode is most useful for categorical-feeling data (shoe sizes, dice rolls). Range gives a quick read on spread without the heavier math of variance and standard deviation.
This page accepts numbers separated by commas, spaces, tabs, or newlines, prints all four statistics, and shows the sorted list so you can verify the median and mode by eye.
