Free Online WebP to PNG
A WebP-to-PNG converter decodes a modern WebP image and saves it as a universally supported PNG.
Your data is processed entirely in your browser and never sent to any server.
How to Use This Tool
- Upload a WebP image.
- Your browser decodes it and the tool renders it to a canvas.
- The canvas is re-encoded as a lossless PNG automatically.
- Preview the PNG to confirm it looks right.
- Click Download PNG to save the compatible file.
What Is a WebP to PNG?
WebP is Google's image format that compresses better than both JPEG and PNG, but some older browsers, email clients, and desktop apps still can't open it. PNG is the safe fallback: it's lossless and understood by essentially every program that handles images.
This converter relies on your browser's native WebP decoder to render the source onto a canvas, then re-encodes it as PNG. If the original WebP was lossy, those artifacts remain — PNG is lossless going forward but can't reconstruct detail the WebP encoder discarded. WebP's transparency is preserved because PNG also supports an alpha channel.
Decoding and encoding both happen locally through the Canvas API. Your WebP file is never uploaded, so anything sensitive stays on your own device.
