What Is a PPF Calculator?

The Public Provident Fund is a long-term government-backed savings scheme in India with a 15-year lock-in, extendable in 5-year blocks. Contributions qualify for the 80C deduction, interest is tax-free and the maturity amount is tax-free — the rare EEE (Exempt-Exempt-Exempt) treatment. The rate is reviewed quarterly by the government and has sat near 7.1% in recent years.

This calculator accepts an annual deposit between ₹500 and ₹1,50,000 (the statutory cap), the current rate and the number of years. It returns the maturity amount, total deposited and total interest earned, plus a year-wise schedule showing each year's deposit, interest credited and closing balance. Parents using PPF as an education corpus often run different deposit levels to see the impact on the final figure.

The PPF rate is set by the Government of India and can change quarter to quarter. The default in this tool reflects the most recent published rate — verify before making long-term plans. General information only, not personalised financial advice.
